JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - Gov. Jay Nixon today visited Bunceton High School in Cooper County and Green Ridge High School in Pettis County to congratulate the two schools on achieving the state's A+ Schools designation, and to encourage students there to take advantage of the program, which offers two years of free tuition and academic fees at Missouri's community colleges. The Governor also praised both school for achieving the designation as a School of Distinction for the past several years.

Attorney General Koster says St. Clair man pleads guilty to murder

Attorney General Chris Koster said today that Tyler C. Steinman of Kansas City has pleaded guilty to murder in the second degree in the shooting death of Larry Yoss from rural Appleton City. St. Clair County Circuit Judge James K. Journey sentenced Steinman to 18 years in the Department of Corrections.. Steinman must serve 85 percent of that sentence before he is eligible for parole.
Attorney General Koster announces settlement with Skechers over health claims on Shape-Ups

KANSAS CITY - In the latest examples of Missouri's resurgent economy, Gov. Jay Nixon today announced that Missouri added 6,000 new jobs during the month of April - helping drive the state unemployment rate down to a 40-month low of 7.3 percent - and that state exports grew by 15.4 percent during the first quarter of 2012. The state has created 35,500 new jobs so far in 2012, and the export growth continues an upward trajectory that includes a record $14.1 billion in Missouri export sales last year.
